Murton Ripoff

You may recall being sold advertising space in several magazines by a character calling himself “Pete or Peter Moore”. These magazines in question are the Bloor News, Queen Street News, Danforth Magazine, St Clair Magazine, Harbour Front News, and St Jamestown News. These magazine were published by a local Jack-Of-No-Trades named Paul Murton who currently holds an ‘F-‘ rating with the Better Business Bureau.

Since you paid for advertising space in these magazines, you need to look on their archive where you will notice nothing has been published since their last November 2012 edition… http://issuu.com/paulmurton – THAT WAS ALMOST SEVEN MONTHS AGO!!!

You paid to be in six magazines, yet all six are the exact same magazine with a different cover. You paid to have your ad published bimonthly, but Pete Moore sold you a lie… seems they publish more like biyearly. You paid to have the public notice your ad, yet these magazines have practically no circulation. The rare time these publications are released are in EXTREAMLY small numbers for the sole purpose of maintaining and generating ad revenue. In other words the only people who can get a copy are advertisers like yourself.

You need to call the publisher, Paul Murton at (416) 693-8530 and demand answers to why you did not get the service you paid for! Why has he taken your money and done NOTHING since last November? While you are at it, request a refund – don’t stand for any bartering for a free upgraded ad size in a magazine that is never circulated – don’t stand for a freebee online coupon for your business on a deserted webpage – don’t stand for anything less then a full refund for the amount you were ripped off.

You should also call the pitchman, a person you know as Peter Moore, whose real name is Robin Jenkins better known on the street as CRACKHEAD BOB due to his unrepentant abuse of people stemming from a severe addiction to narcotics. You can reach “Peter” on his cell at (416) 333-7161 if he is conscious and sober. You need to let Peter Moore know you will no longer be taken advantage of when CRACKHEAD BOB needs some quick cash.

Sincerely,

Your Ward News

P.S.: If you would like to have your ad be run properly by professionals and be visible to the public on a regular basis call the Your Ward News ad department @ 416-693-6325 and leave us a message! We publish ten times a year, reaching up-to 50,000 potential customers every month. Rates are less then $17 a month for a display ad with graphics if you go for the full year.

Well played, developers! Your angular planes, penthouse shadows, optical illusions and other visual distractions worked marvelously.

With the help of local politicians and several “helpful” citizens’ organizations, Beachers face a dangerous future highlighted by floods, sink-holes and even worse geological disasters. Your Ward 32 News has devoted several years researching the underground rivers, ponds and tributaries subterranean to our beautiful Beach neighborhood.

Few paid us any mind, but we don’t wish the inevitable hydrological nightmare on Beachers whose lives are too busy to have shared our concerns. You are our neighbors! The public meeting at City Hall addressed the building guidelines for Queen Street East from Coxwell Avenue to Nursewood Road. Squeezed from the notorious “visioning study”, the councilors all predictably voted ‘YES’ to the guidelines.

Dubbed by our Ward 32 councilor as the Beach Bible, Your Ward News has predicted an apocalyptic conclusion of biblical proportions to our little piece of heaven. Our extensive study focused on the hydrological mayhem that will occur in the Beach should another rain event like Hurricane Hazel strike Toronto again. Several people, including yours truly, were allowed to speak their minds before the vote as per the rules governing municipal meetings of this nature.

This included a rep from the Riedel Group who claimed that the Beach ended at the North-East corner of Queen and Woodbine. This feeble attempt at gerrymandering (reshaping geographical boundaries for political advantage) was done because their building proposal is at the North-West corner of Queen and Woodbine. Nice try, but painfully transparent.

Known as the Gateway to the Beach, the former gas station at the NE corner has already wreaked havoc on the apartment building directly to the north of that toxic property. A speaker that represented the tenants revealed that their building was already cracking in places. Considering that not a single brick has yet been laid, a disaster is GUARANTEED at this location.

Despite that fact, only the view of the Fire Hall Clock seemed important to our pro-development councilor. Upon completion of the Q and A segment of this hearing, our ward 32 councilor excitedly proclaimed, “THIS IS TERRIFIC!!! I’D LIKE TO RECORD A VOTE!!!” After the ‘YES’ vote, she actually yelled, “I’d like to give a SHOUT-OUT to the Planning Staff and the City Staff for all they have done!!!” (A shout-out??? Is she in grade nine???)

The public meeting was conducted under the banner of the Toronto and East York Community Council. Your Ward 32 News was present from 10:00 AM until 2:30 PM when the issue-at-hand was finally heard. The entire day could have easily been called Development-Fest, as one builder or lawyer after another laid out the details of the proposal that they represented. The councilors that were present loved every project or modification that was presented to them.

They openly praised the existence of the OMB (Ontario Municipal Board) who are also ‘team players’ who don’t care about environmental hazards in the Beach or anywhere else in this province. The two proposals at the North-East and North-West corners of Queen and Woodbine are the only developments that must still be rubber-stamped by the Ontario Municipal Board. This is because the developers there have asked for MUCH MORE than they actually want, knowing that any limitations put forth by the OMB will leave the developers with what they REALLY want (Shoot for an eagle, hope for a crow).

All of us at Your Ward News have tried our best to save the future of our beloved Beach. We may be a lone voice in the wilderness, but we are a voice that will never be silent when it comes to the most important local issues. We promise, fellow Beachers!

Our investigative journalist,
J.J. proudly presents:

The Toronto Star, Well “Red”

The Toronto Star continues in it’s attempt to assassinate Mayor Rob Ford. Targeted for political destruction, our mayor has been hounded, stocked and libeled by this notoriously Marxist fish-wrap. From the grassy knoll adjacent to Rob’s property to the sports gridiron where he helps to coach at-risk youth, the Star is determined to destroy our elected mayor. The Toronto Star was first published in 1892 and was originally known as the Evening Star and then the Toronto Daily Star. The newspaper has long been referred to as the ‘Red Star’ due to the evil Marxist ideology it has consistently promoted by way of ‘yellow’ journalism. Another interesting characteristic of this propaganda-sheet is the paper’s complete lack of shame when caught lying red-handed. They are also masters of the ‘big lie’, knowing that they work better than ‘little lies’. (Your sense of fairness won’t allow you to believe that anyone would have the audacity to knowingly advance such monstrous untruths). When Mayor Ford was accused by mayoral hopeful Sarah Thomson of sexually assaulting her, his political detractors attempted to characterize the allegation as a “he said-she said” when it was clearly a “voices-in-her-head-said”. But the Toronto Star did its best to portray Mayor Ford as a drunk who routinely attacks women. They were also happy to allow Sarah Thomson to insinuate he may be a cocaine user. Media-watchers and news-junkies have long been aware of the disturbing nature of the ultra-left Star and for years Your Ward News has tried to expose this evil rag to the general public. The people of Toronto elected Rob Ford. The people believe in Rob Ford. Educated citizens must write, fax, phone and e-mail the Toronto Star and inform them that you now know the truth about them. Astrologers say that the stars don’t lie, but we’re aware of one that does little else!

Our current Ward 30 counselor Paula Fletcher began her political career not in Toronto, but in Manitoba. Her first attempt to hold public office was running for the Winnipeg School Board in Ward 2 of that city. After a failed undertaking to shape the young and fragile minds of youth, one year latter Fletcher ran for and was successfully elected leader of the Communist Party of Canada, for the province of Manitoba. Fletcher held the position of Manitoba Chairwoman of Communist “Workers” for five years, running twice in the provincial elections. Although her home riding in Winnipeg was the lower class, fiercely NDP electoral division of Burrows; Fletcher on both occasions held less than 2% of the popular vote with 144 and 131 votes respectively. After her abysmal failure in Manitoba she left her comrades in Winnipeg and the Manitoba Communist Party for greener pastures. Shortly thereafter Fletcher made the trip to Toronto without a visa stamp on her internal passport and subverted her way into Toronto City Hall as an executive assistant. Always believing that children are our future, Fletcher’s first grasp of power in her life of ‘social progress’ was that of school trustee for the Toronto District School Board in Ward 15. Today as counselor for Ward 30 she continues to fight for the values and goals of the Communist people. The hammer and sickle, the symbol of the “collapsed” Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is the banner under which at least 20,000,000 people were murdered, and countless others imprisoned. This state had no respect for any of the freedoms we take for granted in our country today. Freedom of thought, freedom of association, freedom of movement, freedom of religion, just to mention a few, all these were banned “for the common good” in Communist Russia. Soviet Russia is alive and well. The “reforms” in the Russian Federation are merely a deception. The old guard is still in charge. As quickly as freedom is allowed, it can be taken away. Just because the cage is opened and the bird allowed to fly, as long as a rope is tied to it’s feet it can be quickly yanked back in. Not until the Communist Leaders are made to stand trial for their crimes against the world, will the working people be truly free. Many people outside Russia still subscribe to the “ideals” of Soviet communism. How many millions more people will die or be enslaved before this evil system is eradicated? Anyone who denies that this system represents the greatest evil the world has ever seen is either a Communist or a Communist dupe. We challenge any commie to give us an instance of any political organization that has caused more death and misery than Communists in Russia and China. Imagine the universal uproar and outrage that would occur if a political organization decided to use the swastika today for its symbol. Far more people died under the Communist banner, yet it is still used world wide. Don’t these people know what the hammer and sickle stands for, don’t they care; or are they just hoping to pick up where Stalin left off? Many organizations continue to use this evil symbol of death and destruction. These groups don’t deserve a place in decent society. All these groups unashamedly parrot the same dogma that led the Soviet Leaders to commit their atrocities. How many more mass murders must the world endure under the banner of International communism?

Since February 18th, former employees have been picketing at 90 Shuter Street, outside of the Homes First administration office. Over 70 employees lost their jobs when their contracts expired, and Homes First has been hiring temp agencies to fill the vacant positions. Instead of updating their résumés, the former employees have been showing up bright and early at 8am, and leaving at lunchtime. The employees of Homes First work on behalf of homeless people by claiming to help the homeless get homes, as well as providing support and assistance. In a telephone interview with Emily Visser, an OPSEU communications administrator, I asked her if she thought that the budget cuts were responsible for the employee contracts not being renewed. “It’s not about money at all” she said. “They’re trying to push the union out of the workplace.” So what? Whether this is true or not, the striking former employees have been a disruptive presence outside of the Homes First administrative office for over four weeks now. When I spoke with a Homes First administrator named Kim, she said that Homes First have called the police on the protestors several times. “I don’t know what they’re trying to accomplish” she remarked. I happen to personally live in the neighborhood where the strike takes place each morning, and I telephoned the police myself one afternoon, during the second week of the protest, because picketers were protesting in the streets, making a traffic accident a strong possibility. I also called the office of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, to report the disruptive group. He telephoned me back several days later and spoke with me about the matter for nearly fifteen minutes. “They shouldn’t be disrupting people” he commented. “I’ll call the police myself and find out what’s going on.” The Mayor is clearly a busy man, because he hasn’t seemed to notice that for the past four weeks, the former employees of Homes First have been protesting outside of City Hall each Friday, from 12 noon until 2pm. I attended one of the protests, and heard such ridiculous slogans as “union busting is disgusting” and “we don’t hate, we just want to negotiate”. Now, having attended several of these protests in person rather than simply view them from my bedroom window, and having spoken with most of the people involved, I must say realistically, if their contracts have expired, then what obligation does Homes First have to these people? Apparently, Homes First feels an obligation. Two days after I became officially involved in investigating the strike and the reasons for it, personally speaking with our Mayor Rob Ford and attending the Homes First workers protest at City hall, a new three year contract was ratified. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the protest was about the homeless, because clearly it was about the workers losing their jobs. With the administrative costs to taxpayers in welfare payments, shelters, drop-in centers and medical services covering the needs of the homeless, what right does the Ontario Public Service Employees Union have to funds that are allegedly budgeted to the homeless? If temp agencies can cut the red tape and the tax trough, while still offering a bunk and meal to the truly legitimate… then so be it! But at least the protests have finally ended, and I can get some peace and quiet in my neighborhood.

Your Ward News continues to be active in attempting to save the beautiful dogs that are being used as props to extort money from Beach residents. Cruelty to animals is contrary to the values of most of our family and friends. Is it fair for a dog to be forced to freeze all day for the soul purpose of raising monies for a “street-person”? Or to cook every day through a broiling heat wave? Should ANY person have a pet if they are too poor to support themselves? Poverty is a serious problem, but it’s a human problem in which innocent animals need not participate. Your Ward News has also learned that many of Queen Street’s panhandlers are not homeless at all. Along with the dog, homelessness is just part of the pitch. So, what to do? We could snatch one of these dogs while another animal-liberator creates a distraction, but that’s a bit sketchy and they would just nab another dog. Your Ward News could make a lump-sum offer for one of these beautiful animals, but again, another furry fund-raiser would quickly take its place. Dog is man’s best friend. But is man dog’s best friend? We can prove that we are by ending this barbaric practice that assures the unethical treatment of animals. Our hearts go out to the less fortunate and disabled in our society, but we will not allow innocent animals to be sacrificed on the altar of human social justice. If readers have any suggestions as to how we might resolve this issue, please call us @ 416-693-6325 immediately and share your idea. Dog Justice Delayed is Dog Justice Denied!

You probably think that the Toronto – East York Community Council brings local Metro affairs right to your doorstep. Not so! Not so in any way! FUHGEDDABOUDIT!!! Meetings of this sub-Council are scheduled to keep most of us out. They are managed to squelch our voices. “Community” Meetings are at city Hall, more than a half-hour from Main Street; either by T.T.C. and walking, or by car and parking. They are held only during business-hours, when most people with jobs cannot attend. For no more than five minutes, you can have only one chance to express your views or ask your questions. Don’t expect any interaction with any of the grand government gurus at the Head Table. Their main aim is discovering how to counter any objections to the decisions that already have been made. By their steady silence, they portray dignified wisdom and fairness. Is it just a rehearsal for the next election? The much more democratic procedure would be several meetings in different evenings of any week or more, each in several different local meeting-halls. Beachers and East Yorkers have attended, in the hundreds for these local meeting in recent years. There was “Save-Our-Shoreline” (from windmill farming). We now continue with “Save Queen Street” (from invasion by condo-creep). We welcomed these occasions to meet neighbours and exchange ideas in order, out-of-order, and in casual groups. The only people inconvenienced by this arrangement would be Councillors, and/or their Executive Assistants. They prefer to be paid and fed for no more than regular hours of artful yapping, to no noticeably useful ends.

A personal look inside Luka Magnotta

By Michelle L. Erstikaitis

A human hand mailed to the Liberals. A human foot mailed to the Prime Minister of Canada. Why? The mystery of Luka Rocco Magnotta is massive. Born Eric Clinton Newman on July 24th 1982, Luka lived a rather quiet life until his craving for fame and notoriety led him to begin crafting multiple personas online in order to promote his new name, Luka Magnotta. He spread rumors about himself daily, all of which are printed repeatedly by the mainstream media, such as that he has dated Canadian serial killer Karla Homolka. Apparently he did not quite receive the epic fame that he desired, so he graduated to alleged murder, killing and dismembering Chinese student Lin Jun, 33 years old. There is not much mystery in the murder itself, as most agree that it was probably done for attention, but the enigma lies in the bizarre way that Magnotta allegedly chose to dispose of the body of his supposed victim. A hand was mailed to the Liberal Constituency office in Ottawa, and a foot was mailed to Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper. Naturally the mailings themselves were odd, but strangest of all is the fact that Magnotta is not political, so what on earth could have prompted such actions? In 2008, when I was working in the October 2008 federal election as a campaign volunteer and as an ordinary poll clerk for Elections Canada, Luka sent me numerous messages on YouTube, most of which I ignored. When I replied on a couple of occasions and tried to engage him in political discussions, Magnotta commented to me that politics were stupid, and he showed absolutely no aptitude for anything political. So if he is indeed guilty of the murder and the indignity to Lin Jun’s body, why would he have done the mailings? Magnotta has never even voted in an election, so our best guess is that he did the mailings in order to get bigger headlines. Stephen Harper’s campaign manager Jenni Byrne was one of the people present when the package was opened. According to a May 2012 Globe and Mail article by Renata D’Aliesio and Colin Freeze, Tory staffers were traumatized by the incident. Magnotta is currently undergoing a preliminary hearing in a Quebec courthouse in order to determine if he should stand trial for the murder, and if so, which charges he should stand trial on. Unfortunately, because of a publication ban sought by Magnotta’s Toronto lawyer Luc Leclair, and recently granted, the motive behind the strangest mailing in Canadian political history may remain a mystery for awhile yet.

Robin Songbird

April 15, 2013

Robin, my young daughter is an outgoing, and energetic girl. She has performed ever since she was seven years old, bringing great joy and entertainment to people around her. She loves to rock out on stage, and performing with a live band makes it much more fun and interesting for both her, and the audience. For many years Robin has attended the Ontario Conservatory of Music, as a student. Moreover, Robin has and continues to compete in the yearly Canadian Music League competition. She has won many first and second place trophies, not to mention that one year she has won a scholarship in vocals. Though it was a small scholarship it was a very big achievement for her. Not only does she enjoy singing, she is also a rising musician. She adores the piano and has played it ever since she was three years old. Having to play many songs and becoming inspired, Robin is now composing her own pieces. Her passion in music continues to grow. She recently began to learn how to play the drums. In other words, music is and has always been a part of Robin’s life. Even though this is such a common phrase, to my daughter it is most definitely true. I am proud of her and how much she dedicates her time and soul into music. -Magda

Day in and day out; as a Real Estate Sales Representative I have the advantage of seeing a lot of homes and condominums units so I keep my camera available for unique things. I am always amazed; some good, some bad and some absolutely horrible! I walk away saying “What were they thinking?” When it comes to home renovations, I am amazed at how quickly Realtors ® will recommend stagers or contractors. This really shouldn’t be the case. As a successful Realtor ® I should know what sells homes and condominiums and that includes how they are presented and represented. I find the best solutions for my clients is to provide advice and expertise to help them make smart decisions. Nowadays, I find that my clients have a dilemma as to whether they should renovate especially when they see all the sales and ads for new products. My recommendation always depends on what they want to do and why they want to do it. If it is for their own personal use; then go to town but be careful about staying within your budget and do a lot of comparable pricing. If they are asking for recommendations on improvements to sell their home for a higher price; then I ask them how far they want to go and how much do they want to spend. Renovations can really get out of hand. You also have to remember that a renovation still needs to match the rest of the home and ensure some consistency. You can’t go from 1 room and feel like you are living in 2013 while walking into a time warp in another room; right out of 1968. I have found that some minor touch ups may work such as painting but in many cases do not address the most important part that would actually increase value of their home and/or increase salability. Painting also needs to remain neutral throughout. Don’t mix your colours from room to room and always stay light and fresh, plus consider refreshing white kickboards, door frames and doors. The key room in any house or condominium apartment or townhouse is the “KITCHEN” Do you want to update or renovate your kitchen? The first concern is how far do you want to go. Do you want to order a whole new custom made kitchen? Do you just want to replace the doors and handles? Do you want to leave your cabinets as is and just basically install granite or quartz countertops? Be very careful on what you decide and make sure that when you do look at the finished product; you can stand tall and say “wow that looks fantastic” and yes it was worth the price you paid for it. I have been told that you have to be extremely careful when you contract a kitchen cabinet company. There has been complaints where the custom made kitchen you ordered at a higher price may only have the facing custom made and the company may be ordering the basic framing from IKEA, Home Depot or Rona. The advantage of a custom made kitchen is that you can change the design. If you only change the doors then the original design of the kitchen stays the same but you can add attractive features; such as moulding at the top of the cabinets provided you do not have a bulkhead. A bulkhead is the big box you will find above your cabinets. Sometimes these are empty space and once removed there is no problems however that is not always the case. Many times builders will hide the return air and heating systems in these bulkheads so if you want them removed, there may be an additional cost to have these systems re-routed or condensed. I owned a home where we had the bulkhead condensed in size. We found that the best way to do it was to order a custom made metal box around the system and then glue the drywall to the box. Taping and sanding could then be carried out normally. This condensed the size of the box as much as possible to accommodate the tall kitchen cabinets. You can also add the same moulding under the cabinets and install a recessed lighting. What about your “COUNTERTOPS” Countertops can either make or break a kitchen renovation. The more expensive option is to replace the counters with granite or quartz. They range about the same price; granite is a natural rock therefore it will not look the same throughout the entire slab and depending on the style of your counter and if there is a curve or bend, there will be a seam. Quartz is manufactured to the colour of your choice and seams are most likely hidden. Countertops made of quartz are 90% quartz and about 10% acrylic/epoxy resin. Granite will have to be sealed about once a year while quartz does not require any additional sealing. The pricing of both quartz and granite are about the same. It really will depend on our budget. The least expensive way is to install a laminate countertop. If that is the case make absolutely sure that it is a modern design, colour and edging. A clean modern sink with nice fixtures is extremely important. The reason I covered kitchens in this article is because it is the #1 area where cleanliness has to hit you in the face! There is nothing worse than showing a home where the kitchen is gloomy, dirty, old and run down. They needs to be fresh and feel sanitary clean and that includes the presentation on the appliances. I cannot believe how happy Buyers are when they walk into a kitchen and a see a new stainless steel fridge and stove with the stickers still on them. Funny, the cost can be easily included in the sale price because pricing on appliances have reduced considerably over the years but mainly because now the Buyers don’t have to save more money to buy appliances because they are already included in the price. Warm weather is just around the corner, no doubt there will be Open Houses around Ward 29, 30, 31. 32 and 33 so next time to step into a home think about my comments. I would definitely love to hear from you if you are thinking of buying a home or selling your home and/or condominium. In fact, even if you are thinking of renovating give me a call.. I will be happy to help! Keep Smiling Linda Pinizzotto, Real Estate Sales Representative Top 1% Nationally Sutton Group Quantum Realty Inc. PEOPLE BURNED THEIR EXORBITANT HYDRO BILLS THIS PAST WEEK IN A BURN BARRELL OPPOSITE THE CONVENTION CENTRE, WHERE MORE PLANS FOR WIND TURBINES WERE GESTATING UNDER THE GENEROUS FEED IN TARIFF PROGRAM.

The Convention Centre hosted a job fair (ironically) and the FIT program for three days this past week, and for those who wonder what THAT is all about, it’s the “double your hydro fees in four years” Feed In Tariff program. That’s the bonusing of hydro fees to the elite few, which has drastically contributed to higher costs of power in Ontario, while we yet dump excess power to Michigan and New York, as two examples, at an annual cost of about 240 million. This is the same wind industry (colluding with government) that promises jobs to folks, just ONE of the continuing outrageous lies of the age. (Spain has LOST 2.2 jobs per so called “green job,” and Italy, has lost 5.4 jobs similarly.) The myth of job creation is exploded. In turbine heavy Texas, it was found that the creamy subsidies and tax breaks awarded to wind farms there ended up costing 1.6 MILLION per JOB. Just what Ontario needs, more job losses. We’ve already lost 300,000 in the last eight years under McGuinty. Following McWynnty around the province is not easy. But folks did just that recently: From Peterborough to Clinton, to Belleville to Toronto. Wherever she went, so did the anti-wind movement. In her “conversations” with folks, strongly armed with facts rather than green fundamentalism that is recognized to be harming the economies of the world (and people and the environment) the Premier again and again repeated that she would stick to her guns. However, she would “engage communities” and allow them to have a say in where turbine proliferation ends up. Those words were mouthed at entirely the same time as SEVEN more wind projects were approved. Was the word “meaningful” missing from the Premier’s promise to “converse” with the public? And how with hundreds in Ontario ill from living too near turbines, and we don’t know how many have left homes, abandoned them, been bought out by developers, living with family elsewhere, at cottages, why would our new Premier NOT converse meaningfully? How much dialogue is needed anymore? Premier McWinnty also promised she would now follow the “German Model,” as Ontario has voiced so much dissention to wind turbine proliferation. She mentioned Community Participation in wind projects, and we can assume that by this she does not understand some basic facts about Germany’s spectacular green failure. Germany has admitted its green policies to be a complete flop, and is now building 26 more coal fired plants. The wind doesn’t always blow, the cost of power has gone through the roof, and manufacturing is experiencing near fatal blows. Sound familiar? So McWynnty has not done her basic homework. A true leader would also NOT assume that towns and municipalities BUYING INTO a wind project is good for the economy and for human health. A true leader would examine the failure of the industry and just stop the entire cycle of greed and health, economic and environmental impacts. So instead of the developers hanging the people of Ontario, we would have under the new “German Model” people actually participating in hanging themselves. In submissions to the Standing Committee on Finance and Economics two weeks ago, NA-PAW and several others from anti wind working groups across the province made convincing oral and written submissions asking for: 1 a moratorium 2 end of the FIT program, which is simply snouts at the trough, gouging the hydro payers and contributing to further economic demise (i.e., end the gravy train) 3 a complete halt to wind projects in the run 4 removal of offending turbines where people have suffered ill health and cannot live in homes 5 research on energy issues that will contribute to our economy and well-being, and health of the province, INCLUDING the environment, and focus on heat recapture, conservation, to name a few 6 shredding the Green Energy and Economy Act, which has been a highway to heaven for developers, and some ex Premiers such as Peterson, and a highway to hell for the rest of us (The Green Energy Act, also now referred to as the “Gangrene Energy Act,” has been responsible for the subjugation of nearly every protection law for the environment possible. It SUPERCEDES nearly every single available law in order to shove “green” turbines and solar wherever developers wish to go: including Crown Land, pristine shorelines, wetlands, prime farm land, nature reserves such as Rondeau Park, and Important Bird Areas, such as Ostrander Point in Picton. NOTHING IS SACRED TO THESE PEOPLE) Nothing else will do. Else McWynnty needs early retirement also. Rural Ontario spoke at the last election. Seventeen seats were lost, and seven were Ministers. There is no question that this Legislature shuffle was due to wind turbine hell. Now that the cities are waking up, we have to wonder if energy sanity may yet return to Ontario. *** Ask YOUR MPP, what is his/her position on wind power. If the answer is not satisfactory, please educate. *** At the PROTEST on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, it was THUMBS UP from Toronto autos and pedestrians as a crowd from as far as Lake Superior and Manitoulin Island disrupted traffic on five major city streets, politely handing out 4500 flyers on energy poverty and the waste of the Liberals; and the honking and support from passersby meant, yes, Toronto gets it! Thank you to Karen Lee Wilde and Bruce Palait, who energetically led us in protest songs at Simcoe Park. These fine musicians have participated in nearly every major protest on behalf of wind refugees in the province. Songs by Palait included: Stop Wind Turbines Today, To Hell with War, Take Me To Your Heaven. Kudos!!!

Despite many victories, communities around the world are still facing a plague of industrial wind projects that like hideous War of the Worlds steel monsters are destroying communities, mountains, and wildlands, slaughtering birds and bats, sickening people and driving them from their homes. Even though these wind projects do not reduce greenhouse gases or fossil fuel use, they have dreadful environmental, social and economic impacts on whole regions. But they are a tool for energy companies and investment banks to make billions in taxpayer subsidies that get added to our national debt. The good news is that communities worldwide are learning how to defeat these dreadful projects. More and more laws and moratoriums are being passed against them, while other projects are defeated on legal grounds or by overwhelming public opposition. In Hawaii, an industrial wind project that would have constructed ninety 42-story turbine towers across seventeen square miles of Molokai has been defeated by a determined two-year effort of the island’s residents. In the process we learned many tactics, which I’ve tried to summarize below and are further described in Saving Paradise: Show wind projects for what they are: industrial. Not environmental, not green, not renewable, and cause no reductions in greenhouse gases or fossil fuel use, no long-term jobs and few short-term ones. Don’t be nice. These wind developers are your enemies: they want to destroy where you live, steal your money (property values), and are quite happy to literally drive you from your homes. They will lie, cheat, bribe, buy politicians, and do whatever else they can to win. They won’t be fair and you can’t trust them. Create a group and get your community behind you. Point out property value loss, human health issues, environmental destruction, tourism impacts, and all the other dreadful results of industrial wind. If you have a homeowners’ association, make them aware of the danger so they can join the fight. Publicize your case. In the newspapers, TV and radio, on blogs and in nationwide petitions. Use good graphics. Go viral, worldwide. Develop a good professional website with lots of information and ways for viewers to participate. Community members should write op-eds and letters to the editor. A very powerful tool is frequent press releases that pass on news reports from National Wind Watch and other groups about the devastating impacts of industrial wind. These press releases should be sent to all relevant media outlets and local, state and national legislators. Do mailings to everyone. In Molokai we sent two mailings to all the island’s 2,700 addresses. The first mailer described the dangers of the project and included a survey with a stamped return envelope. We had a massive response, with 97% of responses against the project, and our group gained hundreds of new members. A year later we sent a second mailer with photo mockups showing how the turbines would tower over homes and landscapes. This mailer also included a bumper sticker which many residents then put on their cars. Be visible. Put up lots of signs, both homemade and professionally done. Put up billboards if you can. Professional signs show you mean business, and are taken more seriously. Find legislators who will help you. On the state level, Republicans are often more responsive and more concerned about the environment than traditionalist Democrats who have bought the idea that wind is environmental (or who are receiving contributions from wind companies). Litigate. Find every avenue to impair or slow the wind developers. Once the Washington industrial welfare subsidies are removed, industrial wind companies will vanish overnight. Get property value loss appraisals. Average losses of 40% or more are being reported; in Molokai, one of the reasons the landowner planning the project cancelled it was they estimated a 75% property value loss on their lands near the project. Publicize the loss of assessed value at county level, and how that will reduce tax revenues. In most cases, property value loss far exceeds any revenue the county might receive from the project. Civil disobedience. Politicians and energy companies are terrified of this. Don’t be afraid to go to jail to protect the land and homes you love. On Molokai we planned if necessary to start a hunger strike on the island, and there were people ready to starve to death to protect our island. The level of your commitment is equal to the level of your success.

I am known as receptor 62 of Mike Crawley’s Plateau Wind Project in Grey Highlands, Grey County; a faceless, nameless person to our government and to AIM/IPC/GDF Suez who labeled me as such. This is the way they want it; out of sight, out of mind. If they can dehumanize us then they can ignore the pain and suffering that their policies, their regulations, and their machines are causing. I have a name and a face as do 22 others from 8 families in my community. We have all been stricken with symptoms that we did not have prior to the installation of IWTs near our homes. Each us reside less than 1500 meters from the nearest turbine. Some of our common symptoms are interrupted sleep, sleeplessness, heart palpitations, headaches, nausea, ringing in the ears, pressure in the head and ears, a tingling or vibrating feeling in the body, dizziness, nose bleeds, high blood pressure, lack of energy, depression, irritability and yes, anger. We have phoned the developer, and the MOE, we have filed complaints we have appealed to the Medical officer of health, all to no avail. We are aware of others who choose to remain silent for reasons important to them, but who none the less deserve to be counted. There is a young man in my community, who was vibrant and active, dynamic in his job. Now he misses work because he cannot bring himself to get out of bed in the morning after a restless night to make the long commute required to get to his place of employment. A young father who suffers from vertigo which now has become more pronounced since the turbines began to operate, worries about the health of his children. His doctor has recommended that he be fit with a pacemaker. He is only 35 years old. Young children have begun to have chronic nose bleeds; adults now have high blood pressure. Some complain that they can no longer think or function properly. They lack energy and are depressed most of the time, preferring not to return home at the end of the work day to face another sleepless torturous night. One family has already moved away but not before giving the lease holder nearest his home a piece of his mind as he was leaving. Another family just a few days returned from a three week holiday has also made the decision to leave. You see after only 2 days away from home and the turbines they felt a renewal of their health. The wife while monitoring her blood pressure was able to stop taking the drug she had been prescribed. The husband felt relief by being able to sleep again, the pains in his abdomen disappeared. 2 days after coming home all of their symptoms returned in full force. Now they are making preparations to put the house on the market, hoping that they can sell it with a minimal financial loss. I too fear for the loss of my home and my health, which has already been degraded. I suffer from loss of sleep, excessive ringing in my ears. Sometimes there is pressure in my ears. Many of you I’m sure can relate to the pain caused by a rapidly descending aircraft. Just imagine that lasting for several hours. Nausea and headaches are no longer a stranger to me. I have also suffered many infections no doubt caused by my immune system being compromised. My home along with some of my neighbour’s homes was the subject of Dr. Nick Kowen’s Noise Survey which demonstrates that the turbines exceed the noise limits set by the MOE most of the time. We have phoned the developer and the MOE we have filed complaints, we have appealed to the Medical officer of health, all to no avail. We are not wind opponents or activists we are people, unwilling participants, walking wounded, and singled out by our government to participate in a nightmare that has been imposed on us without our consent. And now we are to be studied by our governments to determine the depth of our suffering, and what would be an acceptable percentage of people harmed. They are talking about 29%! They are looking at raising the noise level to 45dB! They are looking to make policy changes under the guise of a health study. In September of last year I made a presentation on behalf of my neighbours and myself to the Medical Officer of Health for Grey/ Bruce counties, Dr. Hazel Lynn. As a result the Board of Health requested her to conduct a literature search and provide summary conclusions. In a letter to me she states that “every published peer-reviewed study we considered demonstrated some level of positive correlation between self reported adverse health effects and living distance from turbines” but more research needs to be done. Well I did not sign up to be a lab rat, did you?!! We do not have 10 or 15 years to wait for more research! A positive correlation has been determined! So what are they waiting for? Prevention, precaution and do no harm are well established health principals. To allow harm is inconsistent with these principals especially the precautionary principal. It is time for the medical community to step up to the plate. Medical Officers of Health in counties where people are being harmed have an obligation to respond that harm and should be ordering the turbines shut down. The threshold of impairment of health has been met and exceeded. We are about to have an epidemic in this province as our government feeds the industry frenzy to install more turbines and as they go online. Last night I had the honour of speaking for the people of Huron East at a council meeting. The families are looking down the barrel of their future, one that will condemn them to the horrors of a policy gone wrong. They are fearful and looking to their leaders to protect them from what is coming. The room was filled to capacity, standing room only. Sitting on the floor in front of me was a young mother with her four children. They are innocent and their parents are helpless to protect them; the council says that the law will not allow them to protect them either. Please look at our faces, remember them and not the receptor numbers that we have been assigned. Send a message to The Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Arleen King and tell her that we will not be dismissed. It is our right to be respected and to have our health and dignity protected and restored regardless of the circumstances of our ill health. Dr. King has the power to shut them down. The time has come to shut the turbines down!!! Shut them down!!!

FRAUD ALERT!!!!!!!!!

In this edition of our Fraud column we
present our very own Beach resident
BEADY-EYED MURTON

King of Ripoffington

At it again, will Murton ever
learn? Borderline criminal, let’s
hope an arrest comes soon!

YouTube streams 4 billion online videos each day, and 72 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every single minute by even the most computer illiterate; absolutely free. All it takes is a cell phone with a camera, or a $25 digital device and any business, anywhere can be online without having to dig into their wallets for every twenty dollar bill they have. Yet if you fall for the bait one local swindler is pushing, the only way to get a quick commercial online is to give Paul Murton hundreds of dollars so he can do the few minutes of work for you. This is a scam. Keep in mind too, that Paul Murton is a “search engine optimization expert” which is why, on average when city business pay through the nose they still are lucky to even get ten to twenty-five views over the course of several years. A person could upload a two second webcam video saying nothing more then “testing-testing” and still get more views in a week then Murton’s victims have gotten over the course of years. What’s more, for the misery of having to pay hundreds for something that could be done by any 12 year old school girl; many embarrassed businesses are forced to have the first minute of “their” video dedicated to other advertisements and shout outs to websites owned by this beady-eyed crook… so even if business do get a few views it all goes to serve Murton’s unscrupulous ends!
